Welcome! I’m Jaki, the creator of Dobermans Den. That’s me in the photos with some of my old work buddies.
Why did I create this website? As a Doberman owner, you need practical, helpful information from someone who has real-world experience with Dobermans. Dobermans are smart, affectionate, athletic, and fun to be around. But they are also a lot of work and sometimes pretty challenging. I know how hard or overwhelming it can be for new dog owners. I’ve been there.
When I was a little girl, I remember my neighbor had a Doberman, and I was scared of it. Back then they looked huge and dangerous to me. Dobermans have a look that commands attention and respect, (even if they are the sweetest dog on the street).
Many years later, I worked at a security company that had patrol/security dogs. The dogs included German Shepherds, Dobermans, and other breeds. The Dobermans quickly became my favorite to work with.
I’m not a professional dog trainer or breeder, and I don’t hold any dog “certifications”. But I have handled many large dogs. Along with having worked with security dogs, I have also volunteered with the Human Society as a dog walker. There I noticed that the larger dogs weren’t getting walked as much since they are more challenging. Those were the dogs that I picked to walk. I have a soft spot in my heart for big dogs. And lastly, I’ve owned three Dobermans to date as home pets.
