Many people aren’t aware that dobermans were used in the war. Their service to us in history only makes the doberman breed even more special. Here is a quick War Dog Memorial Video for the dobe fans out there. You can also check out this previous post on the doberman pinscher soldier for more information and pictures.

Doberman Training Videos

Training your doberman is essential to a good relationship with your dog (and your neighbors). For some people going to a dog training class is just not practical or has limited effectiveness. In order to be successful at doberman training, it’s essential that you understand dog behaviour. Two of the best resources that I have found for training a doberman and will recommend to any dog owner is leerburg.com and Caesar Milan. Leerburg has articles with lots of training information and a great forum. Check it out especially if you’re having dominance or behavioural problems.

Then there’s Caesar Milan, better known as the Dog Whisperer. He has a series on the National Geographic Channel that should be watched by every dog owner. If you’ve never seen his show, I really recommend you buy the series DVD. If you’re looking for doberman training videos, this is a definite good choice. Here’s a link to ebay where you’ll find the best prices for his videos. Leerburg also has videos available, just do a search on ebay to find his stuff or go to his kennel website.

And now just for fun, check out this quick video of some doberman training that will make you smile.
Ever seen a dog dance? Here’s a wonderful video of a lady dancing with her doberman. The doberman looks like he’s having so much fun that it’s a pleasure to watch. (Just not sure why they’re on ice)

Donnie the Doberman Arranges Toys

July 20th, 2008 | 9 Comments | Posted in Doberman Videos, Interesting

Donnie is an interesting dobe in that he shows unusual behaviour. National Geographic featured him on their “Genius Dogs” show. He arranges his stuffed toys into specific patterns of circles or triangles. It’s not clear what the motivation for his behaviour is. Is it thought out, random or is it just creative expression? It is bizarre to watch Donnie in the video. Especially touching is the mention of the day after the very first time Donnie let his owner put her arm around him. He then began organizing his toys in hugs, arm in arm. Very interesting. Babara Smuts, a university professor is now researching this behavior.

What do you think Donnie is expressing with his toy arranging behaviour.
